Skokie Snorkel 1 (later Truck 16) when it was in-service. Steve Redick photo Jeff Rudolph stumbled upon a nostalgic piece of Skokie Fire Department history. It was the old 1969 Pirsch Snorkel from Skokie. Unfortunately, it was on its way to a scrapyard in Wisconsin. The truck had been picked up from Jim Carew’s place in Bristol, WI. After being retired in the mid-90s, it was sold to Wally Mitchell and then to Jim. It was used for installing radio towers and antennas. Notice the missing basket and any other modifications that might have been made. Also, take a look at the trailer it was being hauled on. The driver only managed to go one mile before a state trooper pulled him over for an unsafe load. The remains of Skokie Truck 16, a 1969 Pirsch Snorkel heading to a scrap yard. Jeff Rudolph photo A rear view of the Snorkel shows the bucket is missing. Jeff Rudolph photo On another note, Jeff shared some updates about the Skokie Fire Department: It's always interesting to see how fire apparatus evolves over time, and it's sad to see some historic units end their careers in such a way. But with modernization efforts ongoing, it's clear that the department is working hard to keep its fleet up to date and ready for whatever comes next.
Small Cement Silo
1.The cement silo must be erected by a special crane when working. Then place it on the prefabricated concrete and check the verticality between cement silo and the horizontal level. Then weld the bottom of the silo with embedded parts firmly.
2.After the silo is fixed, bulk cement truck transports the cement to site. Then conveying the cement in truck to cement silo by the air pressure of the truck.
3.In the process of conveying cement to storage bin, the operator should press the button of dust collector uninterruptedly to shake off the cement attached to the duster bag to prevent blocking and silo explosion.
4.Once the bag is blocked and the pressure in the silo exceeds the safety pressure value , then open the safety pressure valve to release the inner pressure, to avoid the explosion accident.
Cement silo working principle:
1.Bulk cement truck transports the cement to the site.
2. Conveying the cement in truck to cement silo by the air pressure of the truck.
3. Conveying the cement in cement silo to the Concrete Mixer by the Screw Conveyor.
