This is from Larry Shapiro: The Prospect Heights Fire Department responded to a fire at a detached garage located at 240 E. Camp McDonald Road on Sunday night, May 3rd, 2015. Multiple calls were received as flames were visible from Station 9, just a block away. The three-car, one-and-a-half-story garage was fully involved, and it was reported that there was a 55-gallon drum of racing fuel and acetylene torches inside, which added to the danger of the situation. Engine 9 deployed two lines while Tanker 9 began supplying water to support the engine. Engine 39 connected a supply line to a hydrant about a third of a mile away, and Long Grove Tanker 55 arrived to continue supporting Engine 9. The main fire was brought under control relatively quickly, and other tankers were released from the staging area after the initial threat was mitigated. When I arrived, the roof had already collapsed, and there was still some visible fire burning inside. It was clear that this was a serious incident, and the crews worked efficiently to prevent the fire from spreading further.
