Still & Box Alarm fire in Chicago, 8-2-19
I just got some photos from Tim Olk showing a Still & Box Alarm with an EMS Plan 1 at a Chicago bungalow located at 8739 S. Aberdeen on August 2, 2019. The situation was intense, and the flames really tore through the roof. It’s always tough to see homes go up in smoke like this.
Here's one shot where you can clearly see the flames bursting through the roof. This image was captured by Tim Olk, who does an excellent job of capturing these moments. You can almost feel the heat radiating off the structure just by looking at it.
Another angle shows thick plumes of smoke billowing out, obscuring much of the scene. It’s a powerful reminder of how quickly fires can spread, especially in older buildings like this Chicago bungalow. The smoke is so dense that it’s hard to make out much detail beyond the immediate area.
In another photo, we get a closer look at the smoke coming from the roof. The angle here really emphasizes the scale of the damage. You can tell by the way the smoke is billowing upward that the fire was burning fiercely. Again, Tim did a great job capturing the intensity of the moment.
There’s also a view that focuses more on the aftermath. Even though the fire seems to have been brought under control, there’s still a lot of work to be done to restore the property. The charred remains and water-soaked debris are a stark contrast to the once-cozy home.
Finally, one last image gives us a broader perspective of the scene. From this angle, you can see neighbors gathered nearby, likely watching as firefighters worked tirelessly to extinguish the blaze. It’s a poignant reminder of how such incidents affect entire communities, not just the residents directly involved.
These photos really capture the drama and devastation of a fire like this. It’s heartbreaking to see something like this happen, but it’s important to document these events to help raise awareness about fire safety and prevention.
