Wayne L. Stuart, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at his home in Orland Park, where he had lived for the past 30 years. Previously from Calumet City, Wayne dedicated over four decades of service to his community as a firefighter. He began his career in Calumet City before retiring as a Lieutenant from the Skokie Fire Department after more than 40 years of honorable service. After retirement, he continued to give back by working at Kurtz, Anderson, and Goodale Funeral Homes, where he provided comfort to grieving families by driving funeral processions and greeting guests with kindness and professionalism. Wayne was also an active member of the Senior Citizen Advisory Committee in Orland Park, always eager to support his community. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; his sister Barbara; nephews John (Dr. Mary) Fitzgibbon and Scott (Lindsay) Fitzgibbon; great nieces and nephews Kadyen, Sean, Olivia, and Brad; and his sister-in-law Barbara (Patrick) Fitzgibbon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Helen Stuart, and his infant daughter, Stacey Stuart. Due to the ongoing health pandemic, only immediate family will be present for private services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local fire department or a charity of your choice. It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of retired Lieutenant Wayne Stuart. Lt. Stuart served the Village of Skokie from June 22nd, 1982, until September 25th, 2007. His dedication, strength, and compassion left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
