Engine cylinder head gasket is an elastic sealing element placed between the cylinder block and the cylinder head. Since it is impossible to be absolutely flat between the cylinder block and the head, the cylinder head liner is required to prevent high pressure gas, lubricating oil and cooling water from escaping between them.
How many materials does the cylinder pad have?
There are two types of cylinder head gaskets:
â‘ Metal asbestos pad with asbestos as the matrix, outsourcing copper or steel skin. Some use braided steel wire or rolled steel plate as the skeleton, and some add metal rings around the cylinder holes to improve the strength. The advantage is that the price is lower, but the strength is poor. Because of the carcinogenic effect of asbestos on the human body, it has been stopped in developed countries.
â‘¡ The metal pad is made of a single piece of polished steel plate, with elastic ridges at the seal, and is sealed by the elasticity of the ridges and the action of heat-resistant Sealant. The advantages are high strength and good sealing effect, but the cost is higher.
