House fire in Crystal Lake, 10-15-22

On Saturday, October 15 at 9:35 AM, the Nunda Rural Fire Protection District was called to the 2000 block of Route 176 after a structure fire was reported. Firefighters arrived within three minutes and found a large, two-story abandoned home fully engulfed in flames.
The fire was brought under control within an hour, and firefighters conducted an overhaul of the scene while monitoring hotspots for an additional two hours. The house is now considered a total loss, and no official damage estimates are available yet. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among civilians or first responders during the incident.
 
The Nunda Rural FPD and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating the cause and circumstances of the fire.
