Chicago Still & Box Alarm fire 8-11-13
Today, at 2386 Blue Island Ave., there was a roof fire at a commercial building. It looks like the roofers were using torches while working on some kind of multi-ply roofing system. There was some moderate smoke for a while, but the work on the roof was extensive. The team from TL 5 made about 7 or 8 vent holes in the roof. The building was equipped with sprinklers, and as you can see in the photos, the siamese connection was charged early in the incident. Several handlines were used inside, based on what I observed. It was an interesting call, and definitely tough on the crews doing the interior work.
