Star Precision develops new fuel cell small pump
Star Precision has recently developed a prototype for its small pump model "SDMP320," which features a maximum flow rate of 20 mL/min. This diaphragm pump utilizes a piezoelectric element instead of a traditional motor or rotating shaft, resulting in significantly lower power consumption. The SDMP320 is primarily designed for fuel delivery in small fuel cells and liquid transportation in various analytical instruments. The company is planning to move forward with mass production in the near future.
Compared to the earlier model "SDMP305," released in November 2005, the SDMP320 offers four times the flow capacity. It is expected to serve as an efficient fuel pump for delivering diluted methanol to small fuel cell systems. However, the SDMP320 has a larger external dimension of 33 x 33 x 5.5 mm, compared to the SDMP305's 25 x 25 x 4.8 mm. In terms of volume, the SDMP320 is roughly twice the size of its predecessor.
