Countryside training with new rigs

The Countryside Fire Department within MABAS Division 4 has been conducting multi-day training sessions for their firefighters along with neighboring departments. Two of Countryside's newest units are actively participating at the training location: the IHC/US Tanker, a 2,000-gallon tanker (also known as a tender), and the IHC/Rosenbauer Timberwolf interface engine. Dan McInerney shared several photos taken on Wednesday's session. Dan provided the following detailed description of the training: "The training takes place in a two-story house situated on a five-acre property. The house was constructed in 1948 and features masonry construction with lathe and plaster over genuine dimensional lumber. All three shifts of Countryside Fire Department (CTYD) will be involved in the training on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The CTYD point of contact (POCs) will conduct their training on Thursday evening. Other departments such as Lake Zurich, Wauconda, and Lincolnshire–Riverwoods are contributing by sending an engine daily with their on-duty personnel. Water is being transported using tenders and drafted from a portable tank by the wildland engine to supply the primary attack hoses, while the tender serves as a secondary backup water source. The exercises involve hose advancement and fire attack techniques. Given the house's sturdy construction, the fire simulations have proven highly effective, and the upstairs rooms have managed to withstand significant damage so far. It's safe to say they don't make houses like this anymore! Interestingly, there's another house on an island in the middle of Countryside Lake that we plan to burn down eventually, though it won't be used for training purposes. Accessible only by boat, it adds a unique challenge."
