MVA in North Chicago with extrication, 9/21/15

Excerpts from the ChicagoTribune.com:

Firefighters spent over an hour on Monday afternoon to rescue an injured woman trapped in her SUV after a collision with a dump truck on northbound Route 41, just south of Interstate 137 in North Chicago, around 12:50 p.m.

The woman was later transported by Flight for Life, a specialized air ambulance service, to a nearby medical facility for further treatment.

"It was a very challenging extrication," said Cmdr. Joshua Rickabaugh of the North Chicago Fire Department. "The victim was pinned in such a way that we had to carefully maneuver the vehicle around her to avoid causing further harm."

In addition to the North Chicago Fire Department, crews from Libertyville, Knollwood, and Great Lakes also responded to the scene, working together to stabilize the situation and assist in the rescue operation.

Photos from the incident, taken by local photographer Tim Olk, show firefighters using heavy equipment to cut through the wreckage and emergency personnel preparing the woman for transport. The images capture the intensity and urgency of the response, highlighting the teamwork and dedication of first responders during the critical moments following the crash.
