Excerpts from the ChicagoTribune.com: On Monday afternoon, firefighters spent over an hour extracting an injured woman from her SUV following a collision with a dump truck on northbound Route 41, south of 137 in North Chicago, just before 1 p.m. The crash left the woman trapped inside her vehicle, requiring extensive effort to free her. After being stabilized, the woman was airlifted to a medical facility by Flight for Life, a critical care air ambulance service. Cmdr. Joshua Rickabaugh of the North Chicago Fire Department described the operation as extremely challenging. “The way the victim was pinned inside the car made it difficult to remove the vehicle around her,†he said. Firefighters from Libertyville, Knollwood, and Great Lakes fire departments joined the effort at the scene, working together to ensure the safe extraction of the injured woman. Emergency medical personnel were also on hand to provide immediate care and support during the incident.
