CFD Ambulance 89 involved in collision – update

A Chicago Fire Department ambulance was involved in a collision this afternoon at 74th and Morgan, resulting in six people being injured. The incident occurred when Ambulance 89, which was en route to the hospital with a patient and two family members, was struck by an SUV. Both vehicles sustained major damage, and the SUV driver had to be extricated from the vehicle. The ambulance, which was operating with its lights and siren on, had one EMT driving and another in the rear with the patient and two relatives. According to fire department spokesperson Larry Langford, none of the injuries were life-threatening, but all six individuals were taken to local hospitals. At the scene, most of the victims were conscious and communicating with medical staff. Several photos from the scene have been shared, showing the extent of the damage to Ambulance 89. One image captures the front side of the ambulance after the impact, while another shows the SUV resting against a traffic light. A "door pop" was necessary to free the SUV driver.
