CFD Ambulance 89 involved in collision – update

A dramatic scene unfolded this afternoon when Chicago Ambulance 89 was involved in a collision with an SUV at the intersection of 74th and Morgan. The incident occurred around 2 p.m., as the ambulance was en route to the hospital carrying a patient and two family members. Both vehicles sustained significant damage, and the SUV’s driver had to be extricated by emergency crews. Six people were injured in the crash, including two Chicago EMTs. Fortunately, none of the injuries were life-threatening. All victims were taken to local hospitals for evaluation, and most were conscious and able to communicate with medical staff on the scene, according to fire department spokesperson Larry Langford. The ambulance, which was equipped with lights and sirens during the crash, had one EMT driving and another in the rear with the patient and two family members. While details about the patient’s condition remain unclear, the situation highlights the risks first responders face daily.
