Bosch Boosts India's Investment to Improve Its Business in Two Years

Bosch Group, a German auto parts supplier, said that the company plans to invest 2.5 billion Indian rupees (about 558 million U.S. dollars) in a new plant in India in the next two years to increase the capacity of its Indian plant and expand its business. Scope and enhance its R&D capabilities.

According to a foreign media website, Bernd Bohr, Chairman of Bosch Automotive Group, said that in the past ten years, the company’s capital expenditure in India rose from 1 billion Indian rupees in 2001 (about US$22.3 million). The 5.7 billion Indian rupees (about US$127 million) in 2010 have more than doubled.

Bohr said: "Utilizing the 2.5 billion Indian rupees newly invested in the next two years, Bosch plans to increase its production capacity in order to meet the growing unique needs of customers in the Indian market."

The company said it will build a production plant in Sanand, Gujarat, India, for a cost of 1.5 billion Indian rupees (about US$334.6 billion) to produce electronic control and drive products locally, and it is expected to start production in 2012.

Bosch has started operations in India since 1953 and has now owned 6 branches in the region.
