Inhibition and prevention of molybdenum by humic acid

Humic acids are usually derived from botanical ingredients, especially the role of peat lignin. It is confirmed by spectral analysis that it has many similarities with lignin structure, but the properties of the two are different. Humic acid is a highly oxidized lignin, many molecules containing carboxyl groups, is a natural high polymer electrolyte, the average molecular weight of about 25000 to 27000, it at different pH values, with various metals The ions form a metal chelate and act as an inhibitor.
In the different aqueous media, Kennecott Minerals of the United States studied the effect of humic acid on the floatability of molybdenite . Studies have shown that molybdenum ore is a natural hydrophobic mineral, but when adsorbed humic acid, the hydrophobicity will be significantly reduced. The recovery rate will also drop. This effect is also related to the pH of the medium: as the pH increases, the solubility and activity of the humic acid also increases, and the floatability of the molybdenite will decrease accordingly.
Natural water sources usually contain more or less humic acid, depending on factors such as pH, season, temperature changes and contact with decaying plants.
In order to eliminate the interference of humic acid from water quality, it was found that aerated agitation can increase the oxidation-reduction potential (Eh) of the slurry, lower the pH, and finally improve the recovery rate of molybdenite. Of course, for humic acid-rich water, some humic acid can be removed by pretreatment. The usual method is to add activated carbon to adsorb the humic acid in the water and purify the water. The study found that the recovery of molybdenum ore increased from 3.5% to 92% as long as it was handled properly, but once activated carbon is saturated, the molybdenite recovery will drop to 3.5%. Therefore, the local water quality should be considered in the design of a plant, and whether it contains humic acid.

It is used primarily for small-scale compaction work, such as pavements, cycle paths, small roads and small parking areas, and places that need compaction but are difficult to reach with a large roller.
