Working fire in Gary, IN 1-31-15

This message is from Eric Haak:

On Saturday, January 31st, the Gary, Indiana Fire Department responded to six fires within a 12-hour period. This particular fire was the last one of the day, dispatched just before noon, and occurred at 24th and Colfax—only two blocks north of Station 13. Earlier that morning, another fire broke out at 36th and Colfax.
Like the other five structures involved, this one was also vacant. It was a single-story, 35 by 50-foot frame building with an attached garage. The main fire appeared to be in the rear section, which looked like an addition to the original home. A first-in crew made an interior attack, which helped reduce the fire significantly. Afterward, crews pulled back and finished the job from the outside, focusing on the rear addition. You can see Engines 8 and 13, as well as Truck 2, in the photos below.
