According to data released by the European Business Association Automobile Manufacturers Council (AEB AMC), sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia rose by 15% year-on-year in June, with a total of 141,084 units sold.
AEB AMC Chairman Joerg Schreiber commented: "The Russian auto market is beginning to recover at an explosive rate of growth, with a year-on-year increase of 15% in June and a 12% year-on-year increase in the second quarter. The increase was 6% over the same period, which is very close to our expectations for the whole year of 2017. In view of the recovery of the Russian market economy, AEB expects Russia's car sales to grow by 4% this year.

Among other Chinese independent brands, Geely sold only 181 units last month, down 47% year-on-year; while Zotye and Changan saw large growth, but only sold 108 and 88 units last month; Dongfeng Motor and FAW last month 50 units were sold, but the year-on-year declines were 47% and 21% respectively.
